Social & Environmental Committment

Social & Environmental Commitment

Picture
Climate change is the single biggest issue facing our planet.
And our energy use is the problem.

At Truefaux Films we take daily actions to reduce our environmental footprint, helping to create a healthier environment for our children, our community, and for future generations. By purchasing renewable energy sources through Bullfrog Power we are also helping to bring renewable projects online across Canada, like solar on schools and community centres. Together, let’s transform the energy landscape in Canada.
Green electricity powers our computers, smartphones, and film gear.  It comes from wind and water sources. For every kWh of electricity purchased, a kWh from a pollution-free, renewable source is produced and put on the grid on our behalf.

Green fuel runs our vehicle. It comes from used cooking oils from restaurants and kitchen facilities and waste streams from food manufacturing. Green fuel is injected onto the Canadian fuel system, displacing polluting fossil fuels litre-for-litre. This earth-friendly, renewable alternative to fossil fuel empowers us to offset our transportation-related emissions.

Green natural gas heats our office space. It comes from organic waste – like apple cores and egg shells – at a Canadian landfill or a wastewater treatment plant. At the sites, the gas released from the decaying material is harnessed, cleaned up and put on a pipeline, where it replaces the need for conventional natural gas.

B Corp certification
Truefaux Films became a Certified B Corporation in February 2019. B Corps are a type of company that use the power of business to solve social and environmental issues. B Corp certification is to business what Fair Trade certification is to coffee, or what LEED certification is to building.  B Corps envision a global economy that uses business as a force for good.

This designation reflects both the values upon which our company was founded and our ongoing operating philosophies. The B Corp Impact Assessment provides a roadmap to continually improve our business practices while also applying rigor to and accountability for our mission.
